Better Transparency and Communication
We’ll establish a monthly, written “From Your Board” report in web and print format so that you know the details of everything we’re working on, and how to give your input. Straight-forward and easy to find information.
A Kinder and Gentler Culture
It’s time to treat our homeowners with more respect when it comes to rules enforcement and at SOA board meetings. We’ll host quarterly open-mike Town Hall meetings. When it comes to AGC violations, we'll encourage cooperation and fairer treatment of homeowners, but we won't sacrifice community standards.
Lawsuits
We'll resolve pending lawsuits! And no new lawsuits unless there is a clear path to success. Lawsuits are a last resort and should require the approval of the entire board. Every home in Somersett is currently branded with forced disclosure of the existing lawsuits; if you want to you sell your home, this may generate buyer concern and reduce your home’s value.
Somersett Homeowners vs. Somersett Golf and Country Club.
We'll find a win/win for this! The Golf Club must remain on a path towards fiscal responsibility, sustainability and success. We want to work together with the Golf Club towards these goals, and we hope the Golf Club accepts our desire to work with them. Let’s NOT pit neighbor against neighbor.
Expenditures and Budgets
Holding down costs allows us to avoid dues increases AND afford future amenities! Every cost deserves scrutiny. We'll immediately review the big ones, including performance reviews of top contractors and water waste, which represents nearly 50% of the entire budget!
Construction and Development
Developers need to clean up their messes and untidy operations out of respect for homeowners who have already moved in. All gates in Somersett should be operational and closed for security. The just-launched development of more than 60 new homes above The Village needs to proceed in a way that minimizes construction impacts.
Sierra Canyon
We ALL live in Somersett and we should plan activities that unite us. Let’s get to know each other better, and look for opportunities to cooperate and host friendly, bonding get-togethers. The SOA Board and the Sierra Canyon Board should get to know each other too!
Kids and Families; Security
Let’s expand activities for kids and families. Consider sports leagues and keep the pool open longer at the end of a hot summer! Keep our homes and kids safe. Work closely with law enforcement when there is a theft or problem in our community. The security of our residents is a high priority for us.
